Jassuda   BÉDARRIDE est né le 2 Avril 1804 à Aix.

Il est encore un jeune avocat qu'il est élu par ses pairs bâtonnier de l’Ordre des avocats d’Aix, en 1847. Au début de la IIe République, il est élu maire et siégera également au Conseil général.

Durant son mayorat, ses principales réalisations furent :

 Publication de nombreux ouvrages concernant le Code du droit commercial et du droit maritime.

 Plantation de l’arbre de la liberté à la Place des Prêcheurs.

 Création d’ateliers pour les artisans.

 Remise en état du Collège Mignet et du Musée des Beaux-Arts (Granet en 1947).

 Construction d’un nouvel abattoir.

 Agrandissement des Thermes Sextius.

Jassuda   BÉDARRIDE fut décoré de la Légion d’honneur pour avoir rapproché Aix des idées républicaines.

Il meurt dans sa ville natale le 4 février 1882, à l’âge de 77 ans.

Salomon   BÉDARRIDE est le jeune frère de Jassuda et naît le 18 février 1809 à Aix.

Il fut avocat, lui aussi, mais c’est la politique qui le passionnera. Il sera élu maire d’Aix pendant 8 ans et siègera également au Conseil général dont il fut le Président de 1880 à 1881.Durant son mayorat, ses principales réalisations furent :

 Participation au développement du radicalisme sous la IIIe République.

 Attribution de l'odonyme Cours MIRABEAU (arrêté municipal du 3 novembre 1876). 

 Construction de bâtiments privilégiant le relogement des pauvres.

 Construction du Lycée Mignet.

 Création de l’École normale d’instituteurs. 

Il est décoré de la Légion d’honneur des mains de son frère Jassuda.

Salomon   BÉDARRIDE meurt dans sa ville natale le 29 septembre 1886, à l’âge de 77 ans.

Réflexion d'odonymie :

Certaines plaques sont écrites avec un « S » final, d'autres pas. Cela vient de la confusion sur la règle des noms propres qui sont invariables en français mais pas en provençal. Toujours est-il que dans les actes il n'y en a pas, donnant même l'autorisation d'appeler cette rue par « des 2 BÉDARRIDE » sans « S »  terminal.

Jassuda BÉDARRIDE was born on April 2, 1804 in Aix.

- Planting of the tree of liberty at the Place des Prêcheurs.

- Creation of workshops for craftsmen.

- Rehabilitation of the Mignet College and the Museum of Fine Arts (Granet in 1947).

- Construction of a new slaughterhouse.

- Extension of the Thermes Sextius.

Jassuda BÉDARRIDE was decorated with the Legion of Honor for bringing Aix closer to republican ideas.

He died in his hometown on February 4, 1882, at the age of 77.

Salomon BÉDARRIDE is Jassuda's younger brother and was born on February 18, 1809 in Aix.

He was a lawyer too, but it was politics that would fascinate him. He will be elected mayor of Aix for 8 years and will also sit on the General Council of which he was the President from 1880 to 1881. During his mayorate, his main achievements were:

- Participation in the development of radicalism under the Third Republic.

- Attribution of the odonym Cours MIRABEAU (municipal decree of November 3, 1876).

- Construction of buildings favoring the rehousing of the poor.

- Construction of the Lycée Mignet.

- Creation of the Normal School of Teachers.

- He is decorated with the Legion of Honor by his brother Jassuda.

Salomon BÉDARRIDE died in his hometown on September 29, 1886, at the age of 77.

Odonymy reflection:

Some plaques are written with an ending “S”, others are not. This comes from the confusion over the rule of proper names which are invariable in French but not in Provençal. In any case, there is none in the documents, even giving permission to call this street “des 2 BÉDARRIDE” without “S” terminal.
